BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

In total 69 species of birds were recorded. Displaying Great Snipes were seen on 19-20.06 in the upper reaches of the Agapa River, while previously this species was believed to occur to the west of the Yenisei River.
Snowy Owls did not breed, but Rough-legged Buzzards were common breeders, and their clutches contained up to 5 eggs. We counted 18 nests or territories of Peregrine Falcon per 419 km of the trip, as well as 49 nests and several pairs of Red-breased Goose, 5 nests and 2 broods of Bean Geese and 2 nests of White-fronted Geese. Hatching started in Peregrine Falcons on 15.07, in Bean Geese on 13.07 and in White-fronted Geese on 17.07. Starring of eggs in Red-breased Geese was recorded on 18.07. Hatching did not start in Rough-legged Buzzards before end of studies on 19.07.

Population of rodents were at a low, and we recorded in total 2 Siberian Lemmings and 4-5 Tundra Voles during the whole period of surveys.
